Redstart at pool.Sorry - one from last year. Been a bit tied up with sorting picture request lists and survey work so the pool is "resting"
These are great birds and I spent a lot ofc time with one pair in 2007.
They've just arrived back now ( not the same pair though )
Usual pool set up. Taken when the leave cover is starting to come out which means the exposure gets slower.
D200 Sigma 100-300 mm

iso 640.

Great detail in the bird, and i like the slowish shutter effect on the ripples {just taken the crisp edge off of them}

Hi John,
Very, very nice! I echo Alan's thoughts! I like slow shutter speed's generally, not always a good idea and certainly hardwork but in the end superb results!

Thanks both.
Looking at this again I realise that it would have been nice with the head turned a little but I suppose we can't have it all ways.!

Those pools are certainly getting a stunning range of species. This is another cracker. Good colours and exposure. What has happened top left of frame?? Looks a bit "unnatural"

Thanks All
Hi Rob
I'm not sure what it is. I've had a look at the original and its the same. It may be stray water drops off a fast retreating Blue tit or something.
Cheers
John
Forgot to mention - there is something similar on the Firecret pic I posted recently. On the right centre. Its almost like cobwebs in the air ! Any ideas ?

Lovely John
I did wonder about the strange inclusions in the Firecrest image too - very ethereal, maybe you've started doing 'spirit photography' and didn't know it
