Headed to the coast today, with the intention of some wader shots, hopefully, but changed my plans after seeing a few fulmar circling the tops of the coastal cliffs.
Had a frustrating few hours in a gale force wind, which projected the fulmars along at bullet speed
The conditions really tested my screw-drive AF, and with the wind behind them, it had great difficulty in tracking 'head-on' shots of them.
I did eventually manage quite a few that i am pleased/grateful for, so the day was a success in the end.
I intend to have another crack at them, in less blustery conditions, as i suspect my lens may cope easier
A big bonus for me was that my new 400mm is very hand-holdable for lengthy periods {seems more comfortable than my old 300mm f4}.

Looks good to me. Considering the shooting conditions I think you have done well. Sharpness is good so is exposure and colour.
Good one!

Hi Alan,
Well worth the effort! It’s a cracker! Living right next to the sea, I'd say a day of no wind is like a reprieve! but if we didn't have it I'd miss it! I love these birds, except when they poop all over my windows!
