I returned to try and catch some shots of the grey wagtails on Sunday morning, but having driven over at 6 am with my sunglasses on, the sun went in as soon as I got there. While waiting patiently for the wagtails to turn up, a pair of these charming little birds started building their own nest about fifteen feet away from me. I mistakenly thought that I was going to clean up with a huge portfolio of quality goldcrest images as they were very tame, but they are so hard to pin down. By the time I had got them in focus and the camera had settled they were long gone. I did manage a few like this, but although they are still a bit soft, I was pretty pleased to get anything at all in the end.
C&C welcome.

Lovely environment shot Eric. I do like to see some of the habitat in which these birds are found. The background perfectly frames this little fella. Maybe a tad soft as you say but still a nice shot.

Getting one of these in the frame is quite an achievement.
