Processing test..
...as I am having to process my images on a laptop

Hi, I'm after some hard critique here please as I am having to process images on my laptop and the last time I did, they looked great on the laptop, but horrendous on my usual monitor, so I stopped, but now I have no choice.

Sharpening ok? I find CS3 "sharpening" a lot more aggressive than CS2 was.

Shadows ok? As already mentioned looked fine on laptop but REALLY black on my usual monitor.

Contrast?

Don't have access to internet much so not been able to participate much...but I'm still alive......just!

1d2, 500/4is + 1.4x, 1/60th, F10, ISo 200, Leaning on car window

Thanks for any comments

Shadows look okay to me Graeme - the shadow under the back leg and the stomach might look a bit better if you ran them through a tiny bit of shadow/highlight adjust, but keep the radius really low.

It does look a tad flat but I suspect that's down to the lighting as it looks a bit of a grim day.

Can't make my mind up whether there's a slight green or magenta 'thing' going on - seeing as they are the opposites of the same balance chanel it's probably just me!

The only nit is the weird blackish blobs of OoF BG between his antlers - they don't match with the rest of the BG.

So there you go

Nice capture, nice comp matey :toast:

PS - I know I'm mental - but you wouldn't love me if I wasn't

Hi Graeme,

I really cannot see anything that makes me think it needs a change. Looks fine my end.

Thanks Jack and Rob. I've never used calibrated kit either, but sounds a great concept  , but then it probably shows

Andy, yeah those blobs are weird. Looks like a bad clone job, but it isn't  And funny you should mention a possible cast as I can't sem to find a white balance I'm happy with as it either looks green or magenta as you say so another confusing thing. Yeah the light was pretty flat but i'm sure someone could process this ok  .

Thanks for the feedback :toast:

Looks about right to me, althought the blacks under the body do look a little black/dark ? Does that make sense ?
No big deal though.
Cheers

Hi Graeme,

Looks alright on my monitor - it's calibrated but I'm not!

Lovely capture!

White and black points are fine, but could do witha small curves lift to the red channel at the 'white' end to reduce the blue flat lighting - akin to a good old fashioned warm up filter

On my monitor it looks okay but indeed a little dull and darkish
