Vertical Crop
I have been playing around with some crops of a few images and have seen what are vertical presentations of photos. It became obvious that not many really meet this criteria. I worked this image into a 1:2 ratio and it seemed to work well.
I believe strong fore-middle and backgrounds become even more important with a presentation like this.
I wanted to share it and see what thoughts were.
Thanks.

This is from the Flint Hills (Konza Prairie) last Nov. right at sunrise.

I think this is an awesome image. I love how the road winds it way thru the fame and leads right up to the setting sun. The color and the highlights of the grass is great also. Well done.

Brad, I think this is fantastic! Wonderful warm tones and as you mentioned strong fore, mid and backgrounds. The road leads you nicely through the frame and in this case I think the cloudless sky enhances the shot. Very good work to extract this vertical pano! :toast:

Brad a really neat shot of the road leading your eye off into the warm sunset colors.

Brad, it looks as though this might be a crop of your avatar image. Though it is hard to tell on the avatar (due to the size), I think both crops are good. Without question, the vertical presentation works quite well. Really nice image.

Great compositon, I echo everyone else's comments.

Wow. Great portrayal of depth here. This shot takes you from the grass at your feet all the way to the distant hills. I find it interesting that this doesn't "feel" like an extremely vertical shot.

Thanks everyone. I thought it was pretty cool too when I saw it. I think this has become one of my favorites. And Bryan your right, it is a crop of my avatar image.

Great shot, Brad. Very pleasant composition - I especially like the warm shades of the grasses, and of course, the winding road. Great work!

Very nice work, Brad. Did you look at a crop that left a little more to the left of the the sun? Maybe enough to put it about a third of the way into the image? It feels a little cramped on the left side to me, but whether a little wider crop would be better all depends on the part that's not there. Might be worth a look, though.
