I know some of you folks have Epson printers and I just bought an R1800. I've been using all the Epson papers and I like the Premium Photo Lustre best but it is pretty expensive. Does anyone know a lustre type paper that is compatible with Epson but at a lower price. It is about $125.00 for 50 sheets right now. I'd be interested in knowing other brands that are also compatible. Thanks,
I use R800, the little brother of your R1800. I have been quite happy with Red River Paper. My most frequently used paper is their Premium Polar Satin, but I have also used glossy papers and some other finishes (for folded cards). If nothing else, get a sample pack and see what you think of their papers (samples aren't free though).
I've used a variety of papers with my R1800, and most work quite well. For general use, I've found that Staples paper does nicely.
If, however, I'm going to be doing presentation, gallery, or customer printing, I like to match the paper to the printer, and use the Epson paper on the assumption (hopefully warranted) that it will provide the most optimal result.
I also use the Ilford Gallerie Smooth Pearl with an Epson 2400. I get great results and it is significantly cheaper then the Epson papers.
Cheers,
André

Hi John,
I use Red River Ultra Pro Satin and Arctic Polar Satin with my 2200. The Premium Luster setting works perfectly and they both are brighter white than the Epson paper. The Ultra Pro is a warmer white and the Arcto Polar Satin is a cooler and brighter white. They're both superb heavy papers and will give you the same longevity as the Epson paper with the Epson ink. They dry almost instantly and won't smear or make roller marks in the 2200. My last order of 13x19 Arctic Polar Satin was $51 for 50 sheets.
