These are from last September. Can you tell I've got a new scanner?
This one was taken from one of the viewing platforms behind the lodge around sunrise. Didn't get much of a sunrise this morning. I'm not sure about the big rock outcrop on the left, but wanted to try and include some sort of foreground.

The second was shot in the evening. I would have loved to have kept shooting with the 4X5 this evening as I got this and this later, but the wind was so strong I was afraid of losing the 4X5, or a darkslide, or a filmholder. I took 2 shots and packed the 4X5 back in its case.

I like the two you linked the best Mel. One of these days I'm gonna make it to the South Rim. I always seem to get distracted by other things along the way.

Nice collection! It's been forever since I've been to the South Rim. Will definitely get back someday soon...

Thanks Doug. The linked ones were both pretty special shots, probably the best shots I've taken to date.

Thanks Scott. These are shots from the North Rim though.

Shows how long its been since I've been to the North Rim. I thought these were South Rim views as well.

Excellent shots, Mel! Looks like you had great light and clouds.

I really like the second (this) shot. The first two are very good but a little too blue for me. You are getting better and better with the 4X5!
Wow these are great! I honestly didn't know which rim these were, but then again the only rim I would know has Salt & Lime on it. These are great however! I see from the wonderful work you've done here, I really need to expand my horizons in photography and step way outside of my photographic safe box!
love that first shot! second linked one has some nice light too.

It's interesting, Mel, that I have two images from the North Rim with almost identical comps from our visit last May. Stormy skies, too. And here I thought by getting off the trail I might get some unique vantage points. Not likely, huh?

Great pictures. If I ever go to the States, I will take a few of these myself.
Very nice, Mel! Very good use of the GND, as you're covering a wide tonal range.
