Middle Water Slide Falls
Friday afternoon I bushwhacked alongside a neat water slide-style cascade in a side drainage of the Devils Canyon Scenic Area. This photo is of what I've nicknamed the middle water slide falls. From here the water runs downhill over a solid chunk of flat bedrock about 75 feet long, then spills over a lower falls of about the same height. Uphill about 40 feet is a shorter but wider falls. All of this looks like one long 150-foot cascade from downhill.

The layered look of the rock really adds to the scene taking it away from being "Just another waterfall" shot. The light in the "bowl" section brings out the colors in the rock. Nice shot...

John a really nice shot. Again you found another clean waterfall. I bet it looks even better with more water. Sounds like a really steep one.

Nice find John! This seems (to a non geologic person) to be an unusual layering of rock. I really like the circular patterns in the rock and the "slide" created over the millenia. Really a neat looking place and a very nice capture. Thanks for sharing!

This is nice, John. The elements are arranged well, and it's a quite interesting place. Nice work.

I've looke at this several times now, and like it better each time. That's a beautiful little cascade that would be a real sight I'll bet during high water. This must be a great place to shoot, John. Nice work!
