Taken in October 2006 at Pictured Rocks/Lake Superior National Lakeshore. We were there for scenery, but I could not resist this. Interesting story behind this image. It is a composite of a jpeg sky and RAW rocks (to hold detail)

Nicely seen, Patrick. Beautiful colors. Did you get a shot without the foreground subjects as well?
Probably the story of my life is always waiting for the shot.

What I posted was a combination of two images: (1) a jpeg image in which the sky and body positions of the photographers were better, but the foreground was dark and exhbited less detail, and (2) a subsequent RAW image from which I was able to recover more foreground detail but the sky was less impresive and the photographers had moved into less appealing positions. I blended the two images in Photoshop CS2.
Both images included the foreground one way or the other. Do you thiink the image would have been better had I zoomed in closer?
Good job on the blend. I like how the tripod bisects the sun. As you say, the image tells alot about the life of a photgrapher. To me, the comp is good as is.

The comp works for me too, Patrick. Nice work combining the two images.

Very nice Patrick, I love the comp in this, really tells what it is like to be out in the great outdoors with the camera !!
