Sunset on Sauvie Island
Haven't posted on this forum in a while so I thought I'd share this to get some honest feedback. Does this do anything for anybody. I went out to Sauvie Island and captured this about a week ago. I like the combination of colors here, but wondering about the rest. Thanks for commenting.

I too like the combination of colors in this shot and the leading lines created by the shoreline and the foreground vegetation. The clouds look great. I'm not crazy about the Scotch broom and the left edge of the frame seems a little dark. What about trying a vertical crop from the right edge of the broom to the bush on the bank, focusing on those clouds and the layers of color, vegetation/water, and sky?

I think Larry's on to something. I like the dark, vignetted, processing in the Adamus style, and the diagonals here are great. The soft greens are very nice. Unfortunately, that Scotch does seem to intrude more than it helps the comp here.

I agree with the comments already stated. The bush poking through the horizon is not working for me that much. The colors are nice though.

I think this is a great shot...not at all what I was expecting.......

Thanks for the helpful feedback. Here's a quick crop... good advice. I'm wondering if a higher perspective would've helped the horizontal shot.

Wow,

The crop looks 'Much' better compositionally IMO. That big bush was really detracting from the other really nice elements here - foreground, water, sky and great color. This looks more inviting and generally more pleasing now. Of course this begs the question of whether you took any other horizontal frames without the big bush?

Great re-do on the crop to vertical. A much stronger, more lively image.

Yes, the re-do is an improvement, Will. The broom might have been OK if you had gotten above it so it didn't cut into the horizon and dominate so much. Retain the cropped version, but perhaps cut a bit off the top as well.
