I am one of the new kids on the block, having joined the group only a few weeks ago. A friend and PNWNP member, John Williams, told me about this group and it didn't take very long to recognize what a treasure it is. I am a retired airline customer service agent and have resided in the Pacific Northwest for most of the past 30 years, Battle Ground WA for 20 of the last 30years.
My interest in Nature Photography has emerged over the past 6-7 years in a quest to obtain good wild bird photo's for reference material. I had spent almost 30 years learning the art of wild bird sculpture (in wood,) and was always after fresh and exciting poses. Like many beginners, I spent several years using and then upgrading my cameras and equipment in what has become a never ending attempt for perfection and capturing that one "National Geographic" image that makes your day.
My own progression of experience and equipment has moved me from 35mm film to digital and using a 2mp camera to digiscoping with a Canon rebel and spotting scope (see photo), and then to a Canon 600mm long lens. I am an older fart and so the learning curve is ever present and helps me use up all my spare time, but as you know...how much more fun can one have then being out in the field?
My subject interest have also expanded into stitching panorama land and seascapes.
I hope to meet many of you, hopefully on planned photo shoots and to the rest, "thanks" for sharing your work on Nature Photographers galleries.
