Heron Chicks
1D MKII 600mm + 2x conveter F11 1/200 iso200 uncropped.

One from last weekend, can`t do much about the twigs and branches in front as there are no other viewpoints are avalible which shows this nest clearly, but it adds to picture the showing where Herons nest.

Hi Brian,
Looks like you've soon got to grips with the 600mm.
A fine result, love the way the heron's are all looking the same way.
The twigs and branches don't bother me in the slightest, as it's part and parcel of their surroundings.

'Tis a nice image and the twigs are fine with me.I would prefer a bit less on the right and a bit more on the left as there's a bit of dead space on the right. Just my opinion  Nice and sharp too :toast:

That's cool are they watching tennis? Great group of three, camera club say odd numbers are good? Also like the natural frame.

I really like this image. The twigs are part of nature. It shows their nesting environment. Great job on capturing them all looking the same way. :toast:

This made me smile when I opened it - well done! I think a crop from the right would be good.

Hi Brian,

Fantastic shot! Really like the idea of the 600mm + 2.0x TC - You certainly did well to walk away with a tack sharp image!

Thanks for the comments.

I`ll give it a go with the reconmended crop.

I had to manaual focus on the herons, but we were lucky as there was not much wind in the morning, so camera shake wasn`t too much of a problem even with IS but as Craig "Camera Club" Churchill  will say the main problem was getting all the herons heads and eyes free of the branches, couldn`t get a clear shot of all of them looking at us, but I`m more happy with what I`ve got.

Camera Club!!!!!!!I think not!!!!

We were overrun with camera toting individuals while we were photographing the herons,I think they were a bit intimidated by the size of your new 600is
