Plucked up the courage at last to post my first picture. Any comments, tips etc very welcome. I am very impressed with the quality on this forum, maybe one day I might compete!
I have just moved to the north Hampshire area and am having trouble finding good spots for photography. If anyone knows of any good areas they could tell me about I would be very grateful, feel free to drop me an email.

Welcome to the forum - I've only been on here a while too. Nice thrush image and I like the catchlight in the eye. I'll drop you an email later - spend a lot of time around there.
Welcome William and a nice first post. Maybe slightly tight on the right but difficult when in portrait and having a fixed lens, but some people love a massive bird in the frame, and it's quite subjective. Look forward to more
Welcome, thanks for sharing your thrush, looking forward to seeing more.

Hello William.
Good Thrush shot.
Welcome. Not been on long myself. You will get a lot of sound advice.
Its been mentioned that this is a little tight and you always want to try and get the bird looking "into " the shot. This one has its eye to the right of the centre line. The other thing is (already mentioned), try not to get the bird to big in the frame unless you are lucky enough to get it exactly in the right place for the final picture . . If you have a smaller image you can play around with it more later , and you will get more depth of field anyway !
Cheers
John
Good strong portrait William. I'm pretty new on here too but have found it a great experience in improving my images and increasing my desire to 'get out there' and take the images'
Welcome and good luck in the future.

NIce shot William, colour balance, sharpness and contrast are spot-on on my monitor.
I like this very much, William. Actually, I hadn't noticed it was tight in the frame 'til I read the comments - just showed you how subjective the "rules" can be. Look forward to seeing more.
