Woodland Tulips
Thur. was supposed to be nice, but it was cold, dark, and breezy. The Holland America Bulb Farm in Woodland, Wa had there Festival thru today Sun. Not a great place for large landscapes but they have this nice 1/2 acre show field and a large garden walk way at the main house. Excellent for close up work if the wind is down. I am sure the blooms will be good all week. There phone # is 360-225-4512. Just got a machine but if they call back and its OK to go this week I will post.

Nice mix of colors. I would crop slightly from the top to eliminate the "gap".

This is a nice mix of colors! I like it more with a bit more crop from top than Mark suggested - perhaps even eliminating the top row of red as the bottom row already has quite a bit of red represented.

I agree about the slight crop but I like it overall. Maybe a tad too much on the saturation but I know that is all a presonal taste thing. Nice comp.

Nice one!

Brian and I drove past the field on our way home today. yes, the fields are small, but they're situated nicely for a sunset backdrop.

it seems odd that their fields are so small now. Back in the day, they had a field that could go head to head with what the Wooden Shoe has now. I think half my family worked out there in the 50's and 60's. My Dad was the Foreman in the packing shed when he was 13. He talked them into hiring him and within a couple weeks they put him in charge of the shed.

Nice assortment of colors and stacking of the rows. I myself wouldn't change a thing.

Yes, beautiful colorful layers in this shot. I like it.

I love the layers of color and detail in the shot. I looked at it with a little off the top and I think I like it as is. The dip in the very top echoes the dip in the purple row and kind of balances it for me.

Thanks all for the comments, wind was the big problem for closeups. Have not recieved a call back, so don,t know if you can still go out.

Hey Folks,

I just got off the phone with my step mom. She is the administrator (I think that's the right title) for the Woodland Chamber of Commerce. And, the owner of the farm is a very old family acquaintance. Sharon (my step mom) said that the fields are open to photography 24/7. She said that you can walk right out into the rows. I asked her if she was sure about that because most farms are very strict about keeping people out of the rows, but she was adamant that it's okay to be out in the rows.

So head on down! Being as it's my home town everyone there likes to know my business so I generally try to stay away from Woodland

Oh, and the bonus is, it's all free and no photographers release forms!

Beautiful mix of colors. No crop needed.

Very Nice Photo, Jerry, love the vibrant colors. I just got off the phone with them at Holland Bulb as I wanted their address (1066 S Pekin Rd, Woodland) and they said because of the cool temps they are extending the season till about the end of the month. So it looks like their is still some time to give it a try, between showers!
