This is the very first shot i took with my 70-300 (about 200 here).
I was perched on a cliff up the trail from the Black Canyon VC. On the one hand, i know this is pretty staight-forward, but i like the warm cliffs contrasting with the green river (it was the green that attracted me to this shot) and the depth with the river turning the corner. But, i dont know how much my own appreciation of this shot is due to it being my first shot with the new lens, and the precarious perch making it seem more exciting in retrospect. So...on a scale of 1-5, with 1 being throw it in the recycle bin immediately, and 5 being put on the first page of my eventual website, which is this? dont hold back, i can take it!

I like everything about this photo. I would give it a 4.
What camera is this? The photo is extremely sharp.
Thanks for sharing.

I like the image, but you have other images that would be better suited for the first page. Thus, I give it a three.

For me, the green in the river really makes the shot.
Definitely a keeper - 3.5 ?
DJ: lol, yeah i dont think ill put this on the cover! Momo, its my 5D, thanks. I wish i could have afforded another L lens, but i need gas $ too

This is a very nice shot, but you've got plenty of other competition for that front page spot! I'd give it a 3+ on your rating scale. And hey, no need to knock your 70-300 purchase. I've been using that lens since it came out and I think it makes a great landscape lens. It's got L quality optics for a very reasonable price. Sure the build quality and AF speed are lacking, but for landscape work those are issues you can live with.

The river color does make this shot nice. I give it a 3.14159

Stan – sweet shot. I love the red-green contrast between the cliffs and the river. Definitely not a recycle-bin image! I would also give it a 4.
I'm with Grant, pie it is! The BC can be a challenging subject contrast wise, and this shot shows very low contrast on the walls (overcast sky?) but with very good color contrast between the river and the walls, and it's this contrast difference that makes the shot. The beautiful shade of green rocks!
Is the BC rim road completely open now?

Not boring.

I like it, but in my opinion it's not strong enough to be a front page shot. I'd rate it a 3.5.

I give it a 3.75. It's got a good beat and you can dance to it.

very cool shot. The green water is a great contrast with the canyon walls. The more I look at it, the more you see the lighter color bands in the canyon walls complementing the curves in the river. A lot to look at in this one. I give it 3.9!
Well, if i were totally decided about how i felt about it, i probably wouldnt have asked, but its reassuring to see consensus emerge about where i expected--id give it a 3.75
Don, yep these were cloudy skies with snow showers. This was a couple weeks ago (coming back from Ouray) and the road was still very closed. That should cahnge pretty soon, i would imagine.

That said, I like it, a lot.
