I made a quick trip to the dunes this weekend and I thought I would share some info. Medano Creek is flowing, though as you can see, its been cold enough to freeze over at night. Zapata Falls are also still frozen, of course but looking a little dirty. It was really windy all weekend down there and the atmosphere was really thick with particulates. The park was not as busy as I'm sure it will be, but the campground was pretty full. Did I mention that it was really, really cold in the morning?

Thanks for the info Paul. The creek looks weird.

I was pretty surprised that it had frozen over, it was flowing pretty good the night before. Later in the day it got going again and was a couple inches deep.
Yeah when Rebecca and I were out there two weeks ago, the water was flowing freely!

I was at the dunes on Saturday. The wind and blowing sand got old real quick. There has been a lot of smoke as well from the fires in New Mexico and Colorado. I've got a couple pics of Medano on my blog.

Yeah, the wind was oppressive. After standing through a sandstorm in MV last month I wasn't psyched about doing it again. The forecast for Sunday was 40 mph gusts, so I decided to pack up and leave Saturday night. I like your B&W shots, Adam. I haven't even started on any of my images yet....
