When I saw the western sky begin to clear and light up this evening I figured that since it was raining at my cabin there would be a rainbow somewhere, so I jumped in the truck and sped off. I got to a nearby field just as the sun appeared under the cloud bank right above the horizon - I had about sixty seconds to set up and shoot before the entire sun disappeared. I got four exposures.
When my lovely bride got home from taking a neighbor girl back to her house Pam took one look at my photo and said "that's nothing - we had brilliant fields and trees AND four deer standing in a field at the base of the rainbow!" Gosh darnit, I missed it by t h a t much...
I had to do the same thing - only there was no rainbow here. I think the rain had moved too far east. I'd say this would do pretty well for an April portfolio shot - not every day you get a double rainbow and incredible light to boot...

I like the way you have the barn in the foreground beneath the rainbow.

Hey Tom, not much rain at all - just got back from Smith Creek this morning with my workshop folks and the waters are getting pretty low - we need some RAIN tomorrow and Friday!

Hey Tim,
Looking at the radar a minute ago. I bet you got some rain now. BTW I really like this image. There are many things to like which provides for many with different views. I like the colors, the rainbow, the barn, and strange as it may seem, the detail in the tree. Great comp as usual! Thanks for sharing.

No rainbows that I could see in NW ARK last night but the light was incredible. It always happens that way when I have to stay at the office.
