Hey Folks,

I'm thinking of heading over to Cordova for the bird festival early May .. around the 6th, probably. I'll be taking my pickup and camping .. is anyone else going? Is that an OK time to go? I've never been, and any beta on the place would be great.

Thanks.

Cheers

Hey Carl-
Two of us were planning on going too, but I talked with a couple that live in Cordova. Last week they still had over 4 feet of snow. It's been in the 40's I think, so it's possible some of it has melted. At the time, the Copper River Highway wasn't open all the way to The Million Dollar Bridge due to snow - it has probably opened since then though. We are probably going to go this summer instead, and hope for decent wildflowers near the glaciers. Hope your trip goes well, please post some pics when you get back. I'll be anxious to see your work. Take care. :toast:

Hey Dave

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, if it's not happening, I won't go over. I crossed the Copper today, at Chitina, and it's wide open, though I'm sure they have a ton more snow down on the coast.

Thanks.

Cheers

Hey Carl
I think I just saw your post over on Ron's blog. Looks like I gave you poor info on Cordova:( Sorry about that, I should have checked my source again for you. Sounds like you might be going over - hope you get some great shots. Please post them if you do. I'm going to have to wait till next year - spent this weekend in western PWS, weather was horrible. All the best. :toast:

Hey Dave,

Your advice wasn't bad, even when I was there, the Copper River Highway wasn't open too far past half-way. The birds were a real treat!
