To most here I am still a stranger/newbie to the RM Forum. I have been sooo busy lately I have had to dust of the camera to be able to use it again. I have been stopping by the forum almost on a daily basis, but just haven't had the time to comment/post until now.
Finally I picked up the trusty 5D again tonight and did some bonding. I spotted the clouds from my house, whisked down to the ponds to catch the sunset over Mount Meeker/Longs Peak. I'm so glad Spring has arrived :).

These are REALLY NICE, Nick! I esp. like the ones with the cattails in the foreground.
I agree with Todd's assessment, excellent composition, but #1 is my favorite. I tend to like verticals, but here the vertical allows you to see the beautiful line-up of clouds that the horizontal clips off.

Very nice!
I like #1 the most too. I tend to favor verticals also and the elements really come together in that shot. I bet it feels good to shake the dust off!

Some sweet shots. I especially like the first two. Very peaceful.

The first two with the cattails in the foreground are wonderful!

I really like your first image. It maximizes the color on the water & I really enjoy the foreground cattails.
Yep, very nice. I like the first one best as well. In addition to what's been said, I also like the layers you can see in the hills between the shoreline and the peaks.
Nice work Nick! I like the ones with the catails with preference to the horizontal but, all work for me. Very good comps and I like the use of the foreground elements to show scale and depth with the background. I will be happy to keep that 5D from getting dusty!

Nick,
I'm so glad someone got some nice images of the sunset, I saw it on my way to work tonight and I was wishing I was out shooting. The first two are awesome, I like the vertical but I think I like the horizontal just a little more. Great choice in composition, I need to find some ponds like that near my house.

Nice work, Nick. Like everyone else, I really like the ones with the cattails.

Nice! I'm not usually much "into" sunset images, but these are really, really beautiful. Well done!

Very nice Nick. The last one is my favorite but #1 is really nice as well.

Nick, All 3 images are Very nice. I like the 2 that have the cattails. #1 being my favorite as well. In the 1st one I really like the soft ripples in the water. The ripples add so much texture. Did you use a grad to shoot these?

Nick - fantastic shots. The first image has a very nice serene quality to it. I also like the simplicity of the colors.
Well Done!

These are great images. I especially like the first two...can you share where this pond is located?
Hey Nick, glad to see you back! Hope you and the Wife are enjoying being back in Colorado. As usual you have a great eye for the scene and your techinque is spot on!
Give us a shout sometime, my web link is below! I'm taking a week in June to go South to the San Juans while the wife is in Louisianna.
Awesome shots. At least all this daytime haze lately is making for some awesome sunset shots! The cattails make #1 and #2 pure gold.

Thanks so much guys for the great comments.
John and Paul, these are the "Golden Ponds" in Longmont, just to the West of Hover and 3rd st, they are a series of 4 or 5 old Gravel pits.

I'm sure it's nice having that kind of view so close to home - very cool!
