Shot using an old Nikkor 35mm f1.4 lens on my 5D, last Friday at midnight in full moon round back of Hound Tor, where I tend to find myself lurking these days instead of nightclubs and bars like I used to.
Taken at f5.6 ISO 640 for 30secs, this is a focus bracketed shot to increase depth of field without silly shutter speeds. The first shot is to freeze the stars, as I am not keen on star trails. The second is for the foreground rocks. I simply move the focusing ring closer and closer towards me taking progressive shots and then blended them all together in CS2 to get the depth of field I would have got at f16.
All the colour information is there, its just you can't see it at night. Moonlight is a wonderful medium, the shots can look like comlete daylight and the orange glow of sodium lighting from distant cities bemes a midnight dawn, its compelling work and this is just the beginning....
A superb image as per usual and very interesting and informative to read about how you went about it.
I love night photography so this was a real pleasure to view.

I have a few more in my portfolio, have a look.
Heading for the city today, if you can make it up that way for the orchids then give us a shout, but I'll have to see how things go...
Chris.
