I think this is one bird that is very difficult to get a really clear shot with nice background. I find the leaf behind its tail slightly distracting. I must say you do get a wide range of birds at your pool set up. I am sure many of us are now thinking of doing something similar!!!

Great shot but I have to agree with craig about the leaf......having said that it's the sort of thing that happens to me all the time, no matter how much 'gardening' I do there always something that turns up in shot.
Your pool setup makes me feel like breaking out the shovel, loads of great stuff form yours.

Yet another cracker John
Agree with the nit over the leaf, and the partial ripples behind the head would perhaps be better toned down a bit

Thanks both. I hadn't really thought too much about the leaf till you mentioned it !. Looking at it again, I'm a bit more concerned about the small white reflections behind the tail.
Where do you stop ?
Thanks

Nice one. The leaf is allready covered but it's still a wonderful bird well captured.
I would like to know the exif.
Keep them coming

Hi John, Another great pool image.
The leaf doesn't bother me too much. The ripples behind the head and the tail highlight that you have mentioned would be my minor nits. That said I haven't seen one in my back garden let alone in the pool, so well done to you.

The nits have been covered John, but I'm not the only one on here that doesn't have one half as good, I know. Eric

Thanks all.
Repost with small nits covered. I tried selecting the leaf and banging the gamma up 3.00. Not sure its worked,
Edwin The pp programme I use doesn't show the exif and I loose it if I do anything to the image anyway. I don't shoot in raw either. Most of the pool material is very similar.
It will be 640 or 800 ISO
Camera contrast down, exposure comp down I stop. White balance cloudy
Nearly always f 8 or f7.1 at 80th - 125 th second
Exposure spot metering
Continuous shooting.
Lens usually between the 200- 250mm mark.
Hope that helps. Next time I have a session I,ll keep a note !
Cheers
