I'm toughening her up for the coming energy crisis. And besides, if our "summer" is anything like our current "spring" we'll be wearing multiple layers all the way through it.
I typically set my ISO to 400 and shutter speed to 1/300 which is the flash synch speed for the Canon 1D Mark III. This allows me to use an f-stop of 7.1/8.0 depending on ambient light and number of flash heads.
I do some indoor architectural shots from time to time and the above setup works very well with a couple of flash heads and diffusers depending on how large the room is.

Yep no harsh shawdows, looks good Mark. I do a fair bit of indoor work for non-landscape stuff and I find either bouncing the flash to soften it will work and or setting the flash down 2 or 3 stops to act more as a fill so the ambient is the main light. That is however, when I can't get away with just using window light with a reflector or in my studio with my large softbox.
And yes the dress is pretty much like my house so I am right there with you Mark. I tell my son don't ask me about the heat unless you are layerd up. True story... we had a friend come over that had this big fur lined winter jacket. I commented on her nice jacket. Her response "Yes, it is nice and keep me warm... it's my Alaska jacket and when I am at your house jacket."

10 repliesI'm finally getting the hang of shooting indoor shots with a flash. I jack up the ISO and adjust the flash to minus one f-stop.
OK, on a serious note...good job not casting shadows with the flash.
