Hello all,

Time is flying by, and I've resorted to lurker status yet again just to juggle all the work/family/photo/printer things that have been happening lately. But compared to last year, this has all been a blessing so far (but that's another story).

So the Portland Japanese Garden folks said that a magazine was looking for a cover photo, and they liked mine, and ultimately they chose it, too. It's on this seasons The Portland Guide magazine.

I know, I know, it's a free mag, no money, limited distribution, etc, but it's my first, so hey!

Just thought I'd let you all know I've been doing something with my time  Sorry to neglect my second family

And, FYI, I'm off this Monday, and if the Gorge really is as nice as I see here, I'm planning on a visit. Any ideas what's good to shoot right now? Wahclella or Eagle Creek? Or maybe I'll put in some fence posts

Congrats, Kevin. Looks great.

According to an Oregon-based stock photog friend of mine this outfit used to pay for covers...he had a few in years past. Too bad they apparently no longer do...sign of the times, I guess. Reasons why are for another thread.

Awesome, Kevin - the photo fits the magazine cover better than most I have seen - I can see why it was chosen..

Great image for the cover. Congrates dude...we're proud of you! :toast: Now that you've got this under your belt...I recommend NEVER giving a freee image away like that again unless its to a charity that you can write off on your taxes.

Hey, thanks all! My wife's been mentioning that I've been upstairs on the computer more than usual this past winter. But it's from processing pics and playing with the new printer (and making it WORK  ). So I haven't been actively participating in much else. But it was nice to have THEM come to ME and ask.

But you're right, Rick, this'll probably be the last time. Just for comparison, I donated greeting cards at an event that my dad printed for me (so cost was minimal) with the hopes that if they sold well then we could hammer out a deal for a little side card printing thing for them. Well, the cards pretty much sold out both weekends, but when I asked about sending some more for a nominal fee, well, it's been quiet there lately. So my stuff is at least good enough for free

And if it's too rainy Monday for fences or the Gorge, I'll rent that rototiller and play in the dirt
