Hello everyone,
stated in advance that I have already ordered and installed my copy of Photo Quote... I'm still learning how to use this program and, being just a newbie in the photo business, I need some help in quoting a picture usage I've been requested of, as the customer needs the price urgently:

The customer is an Adv agency, and they want to use one of my pictures within a tourist brochure, with these data:

Size: double page spread, internal pages
Circulation: 150 000+
Usage time : 3 years
Countries :
- first possible option : France + Belgium + Switzerland+ UK + Netherlands + US + Canada
- Second possible option : Europe + US + Canada

From a quote calculation I did on Photo Quote, the average price is around 1700 $, But this is for "one time use" only. The point is that I cannot choose different countries as licensing option, and I'm a bit confused on how to manage this. Obviously I don't think I have to charge them 1700$ for each country, however I'm wondering how should I manage the multiple country thing. Further, I can't find anywhere in Photo Quote something about the license "duration", such as the 3 years of usage that the customer requires.
I am thrilled about what seems to be a nice opportunity, but I'm a bit concerned on how to provide the customer with a fair quotation.
Is there anyone out there, much more experienced than me in using Photo Quote, willing to give me advices on how to go on, please?

Thanks in advance,
Paolo

Two ideas: You could go with "worldwide" since that is a fair amount of countries. Or perhaps split the average between North America and Europe. Doesn't seem like a small client if they are multi-national, so pricing shouldn't be as much of a factor in their decision IMO.

Thanks for answering, Richard. Does "going worldwide" mean that I should charge them the double of the one off price? That's what I read in the pricing tips of Photo Quote.

I don't own FotoQuote so I can't answer that, but I'd compare it to what you get from Getty, Corbis and Alamy then you'd probably figure out what you can ask for. Alamy tends to be on the low side compared to other calculators you'll find on the net but has a lot of options to pick from including what you're trying to research.

Thanks for the advice, Richard, it's been very helpful. I visited Alamy website as you suggested, and now I have a much better idea on how to go on with the negotiation.

Thank you!
