I've been trying to get a clear shot at one of these for a while. Although it gave no option other than to shoot into the sun and the undergrowth, I was quite pleased to come away with what I did.

Odd looking Willow Warbler....... but a pretty good shot of a Sedge Warbler! tail is a tad too close to the edge of frame for me though.

Hi Dave,
Very, very nice image! I agree it's a Sedge Warbler!

I really like shots of these LBJ's They're what English summers are all about. For me photographing them is all about composition. The lighting here is very nice but the framing needs attention. Don't worry about making the bird dominant in the frame it's only part of the story.
There's often a lot of criticism regarding using a 2xtc but if you use it at f11 on a 500mm it's superb.
On a 1D3 this would have been better without the TC.

Nicely done Dave, I agree about teh twigs though - don't need them. Eric

I would leave most of the twigs on the left, as I think they help to frame the bird nicely within that `V`. However, I would crop enough just to remove the small twig in top left corner. Might also crop some from the top and right. Would also like a bit more room on the bottom!
Minor cropping quibbles aside, it`s a lovely shot of a bird I have yet to see, never mind photograph!
