Another shot showing the virtues of a floating hide - pity the photographer has none

I know the BG is a bit 'scruffy' but you can't ask him to take his ablutions somewhere else - well, I suppose you could try

Two more pairs of GCGrebe has now nested on the lake so perhaps the dream grebe shot might just come off in the next 2 weeks.

Great bit of action, caught well. Love that ultra low viewpoint.

Paul's right. That is not a scruffy background; it is called the real world and makes this an even better shot than it already is for me. This is the best moorhen shot I can remember for a long while. Looking forward to more.

Makes the use of a hide worthwhile when the shots come out as good as this!! :toast:

Cheers

Whilst the real world does look scruffy I prefer it when the real world compliments the subject rather than fights it for the viewers attention, this is a great shot Andy, but I agree with you on the background, more separation between the Moorhen and BG and/or shallower DOF would have made an already fine image into a really special one!

Hello Andy.

Lovely bathing shot, and the backgrounds fine with me.

I might just burn down the bright stem in front of the Moorhen just abit. :wavey:

My goodness, I have just been looking at the weight of that gear of yours and all that on a floating platform, I just wonder how you do it and how you keep it steady. Would love to see you 'in action'!
Your dedication is bound to come off one day with the 'perfect shot' of your grebes.
I like this shot too.
