The Golden Wall (w/repost)
This 300 ft. long (+/-), beautifully carved sandstone wall is located a few miles south of Page, AZ and an easy half mile stroll from the highway. It's not in any guidebooks, hence the unoriginal title I bestowed upon it here. The wall faces almost due west, making it a fine place to spend a sunset. Every time I visit this place, I'm always by myself.

Any ideas for improvement greatly appreciated!

Nice shot, John. I think the black fin sticking out of the middle of the frame is a bit of a visual roadblock, but the fact that it shows some detail due to reflected light is a big help. I love the light, comp and clouds.

Thanks, Todd. I'm leaning that way myself, thinking that a square crop throwing that fin more toward the right of the frame may work.

Gee you do have some stuff that does not make it on to the Westerns I agree with Todd and like your re-crop great Comp Shot, give it a run.

I love the pictures, especially the square version. The light is stunning, and the texture of the rock is revealed nicely. Nice work!

Great shot! Love the repost and the light.

I definitely like the square crop better to get that fin off-center. Really nice complimentary sky

I think the square crop is the way to go -- I really like the texture in the rock, this place looks to have a lot of other potential images as well. Nice image, John!

Thanks for the feedback, folks. Looks like the square crop takes it.
Yes indeed, Paul...this place has lots of potential for unique images.

I like the square version too, but I think I'd like it without the fin or more light on the fin. It draws my eye which conflicts with the leading lines of the waves in the sandstone. I think a wide shot along the waves into that great sky would be sweet.

Yeah, the repost looks a lot better! Hard to believe, since the original is pretty darned awesome, too.

Yep, the repost is a definite winner, John--good stuff!

Heck, go with both, each has their own value. I really like both of them. Do you have a Vert. as well?

Thanks again for your valued opinions, folks!
No vertical, James....the foreground drops into an uninteresting drainage.

Just catching up here ... this is a dynamic shot ... especially like the crop.
