Taken at Portnahaven in Islay a couple of weeks ago. Renown for seal viewing there but was very pleased to get this opportunity nonetheless.
The sun was the problem and I could have had much better images but for it's direction. Also dependant on tide so took what I could.
Liked this one due to the water on the mouth
Processed on laptop so can't be sure of the blacks and how much detail will be apparent, but it looks ok on here.
If anyone thinks the comps a bit unbalanced, I've saved some room for text in a double-page feature in the RSNP magazine (Royal Society of Naff photographers) In fact i can't even get featured in that!!!
thanks for looking

Graeme
Great shot and in my humble opinion would be even nicer with the head to the left a bit. But you know that I am sure. Having said that, the eye is looking left which balances every thing a bit ( I just noticed that )
Don't get so close !!!

I really like this, the low POV works well for me too.
The laptop processing has left it both dark and with a blue colour cast, auto levels in CS3 makes a goodish job of it, but a manual adjustment of RGB levels to 0 - 1.07 - 189, with further adjustment to the blue channel levels 7 - 1.02 - 240 makes it look great!
Something like this Nigel? Thanks a lot. Makes a massive difference. I had looked at the blue cast but couldn't suss out how to correct it. My changes didn't do the image any justice, whereas your recommendations certainly have.

I still like the mood of the first shot. The second looks even bluer to me. My monitor maybe.

Thats interesting Andy as your colours look exactly as it looked when I corrected it on my machine, whereas Graeme's repost, though lighter still has a blue cast!
The repost then the repost is getting better... I'm guessing that your laptop screen is too bright, I use a largish 17inch wide laptop for much of my personal work and it calibrates + profiles well and is not affected much by viewing angle...

very nice shot like the Andys repost best, how on earth did the extra room get on the right though?

Firstly thanks for all your comments and thanks Big A for your version. Looks a lot better and as Nigel said, the second version looks blue too
I've got to say I'm really frustrated after viewing the image at work. It's far too dark and doesn't really represent the image I processed, I think Phil's right about having the laptop too bright and the fact it isn't calibrated can't help either The cast is probably down to the fact that some casts need a keen eye!
Again, thanks for the feedback and I will stop processing on my laptop until I've sussed it

Not bad for a Naff photographer. Actually getting the shot is only half the battle these days isn't it? I think that's a great image. eric

Interesting post...I do understand how difficult it is to get the shot right on a laptop.l
I like Andy's repost
