If you get up to my house, but head back west on Post Canyon Road to where it turns to dirt, and then start walking up the trail you'll come across all sorts of nice Trillium. There is a bunch of white Trillium all around with a fair amount of Purple Trillium thrown in. Today, I did a 10 mtn bike ride out there and noticed that the flowers were still looking good. If any of you are real Trillium fans I suggest you get out there soon. The overcast today would have made for real nice soft diffused light in the forest.
Give me a call or email and I'll tell you how to get out there. There is also a pretty nice stream with all sorts of moss laden rocks and trees around. If anyone wants to mtn bike out there, I'll go with you and show you my favorite trail.
I took this photo a few years ago, probably with the D100.

Beautiful Trillium shot. Great color and detail. I didn't know there were Trillium up there.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of the area. That's one of the great things about this forum, having eyes and ears in many different places expands your access to many photographic opportunities and saves precious time. Combine that with the tremendous wealth of knowledge and experience and you have an awesome learning tool.

Mark,
Very nice isolation of the Trillium from the background. And you caught the bloom just at the right time before the petal edges became ragged. I found a lot of great blooms on the Wildwood trail in the Northwest section of Forest Park in Portland on Saturday.
By the way, do you know what the conditions of the Balsomroot and Lupine are at Rowena and at the lower elavations of the Dalles Mountain Ranch. I was planning a trip over this Friday.
Thanks,
Phil

Thanks,
Phil, as of Friday, Rowena was looking sparse. Sure, there are flowers out there but it's not nuts like it usually is. I saw a lot of young plants so maybe there is still hope.
Same deal with The Dalles Mtn. road. There is not the fields and fields that we usually see.

Thanks for the call back on the flower update, Mark - I didn't make it up there, but spent some time in Forest Park and the trilliums. I may hit you up about this new locale if I can manage to get that way this weekend...
