Between June 10-21 ,my son and I will take a trip to the Portland, OR area for photo shooting. We plan to visit (1) Oregon Coast from Ecola to Newport, (2) Pamelia Lake/Mt Jefferson, (3) Mt Hood/Timberline Lodge/Top Spur trailhead area, and (4) the Columbia river Gorge.
I just purchased a new Sigma 10-20 mm today. Any particular suggestions where to use this lens?
Just for fun, I've posted an image from Lake Superior -- so those of you from the Pacific Northwest can see that there is some scenery in the Midwest too.

Check the snow reports in late May, Patrick - we have a huge mountain snowpack, and I doubt Top Spur will be open at the rate we're going. At least you can drive to Timberline, but there will be a lot of snow there, too. You can check the snow depths at the Oregon SNOTEL site, an invaluable resource for monitoring snowpack. For example, Marion Forks (near Pamelia Lake) still has 70 inches of snow on the ground, at only 2,600 feet elevation.
For that kind of wide angle, you could try some quasi-large format compositions of wildflowers against a broad seascape at some of the headlands you'll be passing. If you're going as far as Newport, then Cascade Head would be a worthy stop. The view south from the meadows on the cape is definitely a wide-angle scene. Here's a random web image of a typical Cascade Head scene. Here's another, showing the sweep of the Salmon River and Lands End peninsula, below.

There is a lot to see and all of it works well with UWA lenses.
For the Columbia River gorge part of the trip, I'd spend some time reading from here:
