Wood Anemone ? ( I think )
I always have trouble with the Hepatica and Anemone, they are awfully close in appearance to me, if you can tell let me know

Nice composition Bernie. I'm ready to photograph some wildflowers too - as soon as it stops snowing and freezing overnight.

Because the flowers don't appear to have bracts (green leaf-like parts behind the flower), a common feature of hepatica, I believe you are correct. The leaf, however does not appear to be characteristic of either species - probably due to the close crop. You're right - they are hard to call.

Beautiful image of these flowers, Bernie!
If you have any of the stems, or full leaves, it would help in ID'ing the plant. The Hepatica, according to my source, has rounded leaves and hairy stems, whereas the Anemone's leaves are lobed..and there is also a difference there depending on whether it's a Wood Anemone or a Rue Anemone. Have I confused you enough now, coach?

Beautiful composition, Bernie. I think you're on the right track with your ID. I'll post an image of what I'm pretty sure is a Rue Anemone, based on the leaves.

Bernie - I'll vote Rue Anemone as a first pass (and a nice image at that). It's definitely not Hepatica, but which type of anemone it might be is probably still open for debate!

This sure is a nice image of whatever it is. Beautiful colors and a great comp. I especially like your use of the leaves. Very well done, Bernie.
