Dipper with food
20D, 400mm, 5.6, 1/125, ISO400, -1ex, tripod, bag hide, crop for web

Buy one get one free!

Haven't really done much photography for many many months and was waiting for Spring to get my interest peaked again. And so, after a lot of work with local dippers this year am starting to get some photographic results - these guys have moved nest site again after last one was washed out by river in full spate. Taken the usual amount of hard work, patience and respect but for me there's nothing like watching Dippers at work - such interesting little birds. Have plenty of shots now (including one yawning - never shot that before) but quite liked this one for the symmetrical insects...

Cheers,

Mark

Very nice.
A really natural looking shot, with a great bonus with the insects.

Lovely detail and a clear view of the very short wingspan. An excellent shot.

Great exposure here-wonderful detail on the feather-the food tops it off nicely-I might try to tone down or clone the bright twigs behind the bird

A great Dipper shot and the larvae in its beak make it even better.

A giant Dipper!! You've come to the other side at last

Great shot Mark. I'm going to have a bash at a pair of Dippers I stumbled across at the weekend, so would very much like something like this...only smaller obviously
