Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
Just returned from 3 weeks visiting my daughter in Texas - as you can see I took my camera but did very little photography as this was a family holiday and I was low due to a virus I picked up!

This bird was quite common in the area and even showed up briefly in my daughter's garden.

Great shot Dave,
I know 1DmkIII+500 is just a snapshot camera
no worry not really family destructive
Just hold it and shoot.

If I appeared on a family holiday clutching my 1DMkIII + 500mm I might get spotted as having ulterior motives!! Nice shot btw :toast: :toast:

Hi David,

Awesome capture! If I have anything more than a point and shoot on a family holiday, I get lynched! :argue:

Hi John

Yes very windy - we had very few days where there was only a breeze!

What a cracking bird! Excellently captured as usual. Difficult to compose with such a long tail.

David

A very nice shot of a very interesting bird makes a change not to see them sitting on a wire fence. Observing their flight action is a treat in its self.

Gorgeous bird, well captured. I would have liked to see it a bit more to the right in the frame.

Now , that is some bird! Fantastic.
I like the idea of your gear being snapshot material!!
