I love photographing the Columbia River and Gorge, but it's sure hard to find vistas without the hand of man. Despite the visible road, I enjoyed watching the sun come up from this spot and photographing the light as it just started to catch the lupine. Fortunately, for this location, there was little wind.

This looks like it was a beautiful morning to be out there. Nice shot John! The light is wonderful here. I am hoping to get out there for sunrise soon myself, now that I am starting to get better from this nasty sinus cold, no fun.
Gees, John, you're racking up some fine shots. I sure like how the color in the sky resonates with that of the lupine. Also, the way the river winds through the frame is really great. Nice going.
John, this is a great photo of a beautiful scene.
Where exactly was it taken? I don't know the gorge too much and I wouldn't mind visiting those pretty places. Unless it is your secret... :) Like the fishermen never disclose their perfect fishing locations... :)
Cezar, I'm not big into secrets. I guess I always hope, usually in vain , that my skills rather than my locations will set me apart. Here's a map of where I took the photo, right across the road from the Heritage Site pullout that has interpretive signs for the gorge.
Oh, it's after Dalles. Too far, I need something closer, no more than 1 hour from Portland. Somewhere where I can go on Saturday morning while my family is still asleep... :)
