Stepping into daylight
Hi everyone!

I’ve been lurking around this forum for a little while and find it so enjoyable that I’ve joined NPN.

I’m from Inman, SC (in the upstate) and do most of my shooting in the Smokies and national forests of the Southeast.

The outdoors has been my most enjoyable environment my whole life. Please don’t ask why I did not start photographing it until 5 years ago. I have no good answer.

I look forward attending some of your events and meeting the people behind my computer screen

To get into the swing of things right off the bat, I’ve posted an image from my recent travels. This image of Purple Phlox was taken April 25th just down the hill from The Chimney Tops trailhead in the Smokies. I shot it with a Canon 20D using a Canon 10-22 lens at f22.

Hi Chuck! Nice to have you here. Great image, I love the colors. I live in Rutherfordton, NC, not too far from Inman! :wavey:

Hi Chuck! We've bumped into each other a few times over the years in the Smokies. Nice photo!

Hi Jon,

Yes, we last met in 2006. You told me about the painted trillium at Kanati Fork trail. Good to hear from you.

(This forum is GREAT!)

Chucky boy! Good to see you here.

Great way to start out with an image like this. Didn't you tell me last night that you were uninspired when you went out there? Looks good to me!

That phlox rocks!! Nice shot, especially the arching log on the forest floor. It makes a great focal point.

Thanks all.

Richard, that shot was taken accidentally while sitting down trying to figure out my camera. Opps!

Chuck, Nice one here! Love the way the decomposing log leads the eye through the image. I wish I could get shots this nice "accidentally".
