Lately I have been getting weird color casts in my film shots. I use Fuji Velvia slide film in 35mm. it all started when I was up at Mt. Evans this past summer, the color is either too blue or it's really red in an very ugly way. I haven't had that problem before, what do you think I am doing different or wrong, usually it has a bizarre magenta or red cast to it. could it be the scanning of the slides? I don't have a slide scanner so I have it done somewhere else.
If it's the actual slides that display the color cast, another consideration is where you get your film developed. Poor control of developing chemicals (old, over-used), temperature, etc. can result in color casts. These color casts would likely vary from batch to batch, depending on when you submit your film. If the color casts are consistent, it is likely a problem with the film, as Tony and Mel mentioned.
I have not had any issue with old film or film being overheated....and I have left my film in a hot car a few times..
However, I did have issues with one lab and specifically with Velvia 100. All of my V100 film seemed to have a magenta cast. First I thought it was a V100 characteristic, then I thought it was due to outdated film. But, after I took my film to a different the color cast went away.
thanks guys, I took a look at my film and the color casts look like it did when I took the photos so I assume then that it's the labs scanning of the film. It's good to know some of these things though

I have some outdated (2004) Provia. It takes a slight green shade but I can fix it in the scanner.
