My primary interest is Birding and Avian photography. I really enjoy seeing the birds from other parts of the world in the Avian Critique Gallery. I often wish for more info on these birds.
For North American birds I pretty much live by Sibley.
Can anyone recommend a book or website that would include all or most of the birds of the world.
Matt, there really isn't such a book, to my knowledge. If there was, you would need a forklift to haul it around. As an example, the Birds of Ecuador is a two-volume set and fills 7 inches of shelf space. Birds of Peru is nearly as thick, with perhaps a 50% overlap. Sibley covers the 850+ North American birds; there are more than 9,000 world wide.
There are some pretty decent world bird web sites; I have a compendium of those sites on my list of articles to write for NPN.
Matt,
For South African birds, you can try the Birdlife South Africa website.

They have a e-guide based on one of the field guides. It is bit limited on info on the birds though.
There is other interesting info on the site though.
