I am going to the Hood Valley for the weekend and I have not been there before. I am looking for the orchards that have Mount Hood for the backdrop and some of the images I have seen with the orchards have red barns in them. Does anyone know where any of these things are as I leaving tomorrow morning . Thanks for any information you can give me. Thanks Kevin McNeal

Kevin-
I just sent you an E-mail with some directions. Stop in and see Mark Hudon at Hood River Coffee if you get the chance. The coffee is great and he is the resident expert on Hood River. The pear trees were great the weekend before last. Hope they still are for you. Find Eastside Drive and drive around, there are many good vistas. The red barn shot is best in the morning and there are some good areas on Eastside drive that I have found for sunset. If Hood is clouded over, look for Mt. Adams to the North.

Get to Hood River,
Find Rt 35.
Head South on Rt 35.
See Orchards
See Mt Hood, it's really that easy.

Really, you would have to be sleeping or blind not to see them.
As for that red barn, right out of Hood River, about a mile or two up on 35, look for Whisky Creek Road on the left just before the train tracks cross the road.
Turn Left onto Whisky Creek road and drive to it's end, about a mile or less to where it intersects Eastside Road.
Take a left on Eastside Road. The Red Barn is directly to your right. Take the next right and go up that road a couple hundred yards or so. Look right, north, there's a few thousand acres of orchard, Mt Hood and that red barn.
If you turned around and headed south on Eastside road you'll be heading towards Hood and through the orchards. Eastside Road parallels Rt 35 so if you took any right and go far enough, you'll intersect with it.

Email me, I'll give you my cell # and you can call me anytime and I'll tell you where you are and where you should go.

Thanks, mark - great info!
You should write a several-page photographer;s guide to Hood Rriver, with all the neat little photographic crannies, and publish it. I bet lots of us would be happy to buy it.
