I've just spent a couple of fantastic days on Skomer island. I would really recommend staying the night at the new accommodation there, you get to see a different side of the island in the mornings and evenings. There weren't too many puffins on land yet, but the one's that were are very obliging.

Cheers,

Dan.

a nice portrait of a lovely bird. A bit more DOF would be nice but light levels were clearly low. This looks good for ISO 1600.

I heard it's pretty much booked solid :frown: I was told you had to book a place months in advance.... Did you see any SE-Owls during your stay?

Like the reflection in the Puffins eye, nice work.

Hi Tony,

I think it is pretty much booked up, but there are cancellations that happen every now and again. Definitely worth it if you can make it.

I did notice the reflection of myself in the eye, but its beyond my editing skills to do a decent job of removing it!

Cheers,

Dan.

Oh, and no Short eared owls, although one had been regularly spotted hunting during the day for the previous few days to our stay

Such beautiful birds, keep meaning to take a trip across there but like Anthony says the accommodation always looks booked solid.

Do like the reflection so I wouldn't worry about trying to clone it out, perhaps a little bit more space on the left to not clip the beak, but it looks great for the light you must have had

personally I would like to see either all the beak or a closer shot that just centres on the eye.
I love the reflection.
