The Buffalo was up and running today, and for once it was not too cold. This was shot up in the headwaters, just below my cabin. I was surprised that with the level so high from rains overnight the water was not muddy at all. This was taken around noon - something else you are never supposed to do (like shoot without a tripod).

There you go again, breaking all of the rules! What a beautiful river!

Hey Tim, great shot, can I get my canoe down it at that level?

Nice shot Tim. Is that far from where Whitaker creek joins in?

Actually yes, I think you could have floated yesterday - I was amazed at how high the river was to be so clear. And yes, this is just above where Whitaker comes in. The floods rerouted Whitaker just upstream from its mouth, and I suspect have done some major moving around with the boulders in our swimming hole a little bit downstream - hope that didn't mess that hole up!

Hey Tim, I also shot at f22! I had to stack two polarizers as well to get a long enough shutter speed. I was surprised how sharp everything was - the ACR sharpening software is getting really good these days.

You're starting to get unpredictable Tim ... shooting waterfalls & rivers under clear blue skies. Next thing you know we won't have to read our camera manuals before taking one of your workshops!

Very nice scene and I'm amazed at the amount of leaf out since last week. Spring is in full swing there it seems.

Glad you avoided the devastation from the storms yesterday. The greater KC area got slammed pretty hard but there was no loss of life like in Arkansas. :frown:

Tim, the trees seem a bit dark to me for noon on a sunny day. It's a real winner of a composition; I just love the water rushing head on, and the nice sheen on the rock in the foreground.

Hey John - yup, the relative brightness of backlit leaves vs. water in full sun (or the bright blue sky) makes them dimmer - which is the way I like them anyway so that is OK with me. Of course, I could always lift the brightness of the leaves in post, but no need to - I try to make images that reflect what I saw at the time as much as possible, but just like Ansel, leaving the door open for future visions!
