Up with the lark this morning to check out my local hare site (five minutes walk from my front door - very lucky), got myself set up in a ditch, checked my exposure, and then this fella ran across the field and stopped about twelve foot in front of me. Half a dozen shots later he moved on. Why can't all wildlife photography be that easy!
If it was always that easy there would be no challenge-very lucky to have this chap as a neighbour,Always nice to get such a low POV although a slightly higher one in this case would have got rid of the sky but really nice as is
Not sure why Dave would want to get rid of the sky. For me that would give yet another rather boring portrait. Showing the animal in the context of its habitat makes the picture a lot more interesting to my eyes, and you have done a good job of doing that. Only minor nit I have is that the distant tree line does not extend across the entire frame. Maybe you could clone over a bit of green to fill in the gap. Otherwise, I really like the shot.
Now it's funny how different folk see different things - the only nit for me is not enough room at the bottom - just a sliver more ground would give plenty of room for the hares missing 'virtual' feet'.
If you 'imagine' the feet in position they would be very tight at the bottom of the frame - just a tad more room and you're there Simon
That's my to'pennorth anyway - otherwise, a really nice image I think, nice one
Hi Simon, lovely shot - like the space on the right for it to hop off into. Agree about the gap in the treeline and perhaps the horizon is a bit tilted, but I think it it was levelled out you'd lose some of the impact in the hare's pose. Very jealous though!
