I like everything except for the rock that's a little too close in the foreground, but I'm sure there wasn't a means to getting this perspective and excluding the rock at the same time. Nice work.
Very nice, Darren, I don't think anyone other than a hard core photo weenie (i.e. us) would ever notice the rock too close to the edge. Although if the mat were to touch it, that would not be good.
Nice shot Darren. Saturday sure was a "classic day" for the Gorge. The light was perfect up there and it held for most of the day. That rock may be a little to close, but having that rock so low in the frame also really helps to bring out the mossy detail.
placing something strong/significant in the foreground is an interesting technique to expand the visual depth of the image. it works for me to balance this image. great shot !
Really nice - the rock needs more space at the bottom and there appears to be a slight green hue in the water. Otherwise this is looking sweet. Nice green colors from you D300.
IMHO, the hardest part about these waterfall shots is everything else. Getting the water just right with exposure, composition, etc. often gets lost in the "stuff" you have to capture around it. This shot is really well done because the forest stands on its own; the light in the top third is wonderful. My only suggestion would be to slightly reduce the yellow and slightly increase the green.
This is a great compliment to your detail shot of the gorge. THe greens look more natural here, so maybe the detail shot isn't too yellow afterall. The water treatment is really good...has a little more contrast to it.
I like it!
