Here is a shot of one of the triple falls that I took on Saturday. I've been processing this one more than my usual workflow to get the detail I wanted. Not sure about it still, specifically the sharpness. Thoughts?
Hi Wayne. I took some shots from that location Saturday, and I wasn't feeling the love! Maybe it was because there wasn't enough green; maybe the lighting wasn't right.. I dunno.
Your shot seems a bit too contrasty for my tastes, and the highlights are fighting with the waterfalls for my attention.
I'm posting a shot I took. Merle and Dale were kind enough to hang out so that I could get them in the picture. I processed this on my laptop, from a jpeg (I do my serious work in ACR), so the color might be off.
John, I think you hit on one of the things that bother me about my shot. The fg rock is problemmatic and while I did try to tone down the whites, I was never satisfied with the results. I like the composition so I think I'll be taking another pass and approach at processing it.
I really like both of these, with each having strength and weaknesses IMO. Wayne - I really like your composition. The trees on the left add depth to the image, and are just nice to look at. But the processing does seem a little contrasty and saturated for me. John - I think I would have liked to see just a bit more at the base of the fall - just feels kinda cramped down there. You processing is almost perfect though (water seems just a little blue).
Nice work, guys! Thanks for posting. I'll try to put one up from Sweden Creek in the next day or so...
Talking to Wayne he informed me that our Saturday trip was the Sweden Creek visit. I definitely need some return trips to get the names of these places burned in my brain. Anyway I kinda roamed off and went around the bluff edge to the one single fall and got this shot. It's similar to my Hammerschmidt Fall shot where I was looking down at it. I must unconsciously be drawn to the top view of some of these falls.
Oh yeah, I like this one too Brad. You've controlled this busy scene very nicely with this comp. A little polarization would have really made this one pop!
You have some really nice images from the Spring Gathering! Keep 'em coming!
