Honey Buzard - (Pernis apivorus)
Hope my ID is correct

This bird seemed to be very hard to photograph plus I found to be very shy! However, after three weeks and as many locations, on the last day it perched almost above me. Not a great shot I grant you with all the branches in the way, but at least I got something. In fact it was in the same tree as the Heron I posted a while back.

Hi Stephen

I think your ID is correct - a rare image indeed. If only the OOF branch had not been in the way. That said I would still like it on my files!

I'm not asking where but did you photograph it in the UK!

Hi David

No I did not photograph it in the UK, it was on my India trip. Hence my reservations about the ID

Would I still be correct?

steve, oriental bird group is a good place to confirm your ID of asian birds.

Indians and reservations umm

Very nice to get a sharp shot of this cracking bird-fantastic eye-a nice one to have branches or not

Impressive eye! The branches aren't a big deal. I'd be tempted to give a little more room (add canvas?) at the top.

Hi Steve

Thanks for that - yes I still think your ID is correct. UK birds are usually darker underneath but I know nothing about the Indian population.
