I don't remember the name of the location we went to on Saturday Morning - but - this is one of my shots. I didn't do the "shroom" or go to the bottom of the falls. Instead, I hung out near the top.
Merle - this looks like the place you guys went Sunday morning - the Indian Creek drainage, just above Hammerschmidt Falls. We were at Sweden Creek Saturday am. Glad I'm not the only one that can't remember names!
I like your composition here, it's a very nice setting. The water looks a little too blue, though. Tim E teaches an easy way to set the white point in a scene like this - just use your white point eyedropper tool in raw (at the top of the screen) and click on a bright part of the water and presto, your color balance is set. A little more sharpening would probably help here too.
Here's a different white balance with some sharpening. Thanks for the critiques - I need all the help I can get.
You are right Bill. This was Sunday morning. Of everything I've lost - I miss my mind the most...
While your composition is "just right", I'm going to be the papa bear and say the second version is too warm for my tastes, though I'm with Bill that the original was too cool. Nice work still.
Very nice composition Merle. I do like the water better in the second image but the nice green color in the leaves got washed out. Maybe somewhere 1/2 way between the 1st and 2nd image would be a good compromise.
