Stock Photography Sales Verifications

Hello,
This question is for those of you who've sold stock for a long while. What type of certification of sales do stock agencies provide? Do they have an independent audit report that confirms their sales match your sales? That might sound silly, but it's a serious question.

I'm an enthusiastic amateur with a business background and I've always wondered what types of checks and balances a photographer is afforded in those situations. I'm a big believer in "trust, but verify" and I was just curious what the standard practice is.

Thanks for any responses.

you get a check and a sales report. If you enter into a contractual agreement with an agency, you'll usually see an "Audits" provision.

HTH...

I get sales reports with my checks (or transfers) and my contracts allow for an independent audit not that I think I will ever need one. For me one of the most important sides of stock sales is trust, if you don't think you can trust your agency to report all the sales you just shouldn't work with them.
