Thank you Todd !
Thanks to Todd for posting his Claret Cup Cactus plant that redefines the species and sharing the location! It motivated me to head down to Canon City yesterday morning where I found this one among others.

Great shot! The soft light really brings out the colors.

And creative use of a 300mm lens. Nice.

Very pleasing depth of field. Nice Don!
How does the 100-400 hold up on the 1dsIII?

Love the perspective and the seemingly shallow DOF. I know it's f14, but the blurred background makes it seem more shallow.

I Like the presentation on this. Doesn't seem as dangerous as Todd's. Great capture Don! :toast:

Hey Don, sweet shot--ill be trying my luck this weekend.

Don, the least you could've done is take a crappy photo so I wouldn't have to worry about the competition! This is very nice, I love the shallow DOF you chose.

Very nice Don. The careful DOF helps to create a excellent background separation in the image.

I was over in the Maze and Moab areas Wednesday-Sunday and the claret cups and fishhooks were blooming all over the place.
