GSW also!
After four visits from this bird, during a six hour stint in my sauna {oops, i mean hide  }, i finally managed a few 'digital' shots of this chap.

Unfortunately i was getting dappled light on the various pre-placed stumps, but i caught this shot as he climbed upwards into an illuminated section, before taking flight.

Managed quite a few shots at this mid-distance range, and will have a further crack at some close-ups, if the temperature becomes more comfortable.

Great capture Alan with great detail in the bird's plumage.

I would leave it as is, I think this size in the frame will work better than a close up-Good image

There have been some cracking GSW pictures here recently and this ranks among the best. You really nailed the exposure and I'm sure it was worth the six hours in the "sauna"

Well worth the effort and pain! I was listening to one a short while ago but didn't see him. The detail is excellent.

Great shot and worth the sauna I think. Back after mine tomorrow morning and will be well pleased to get one as good as this ..

Hi Alan,

Awesome GSW capture! Love the pose and the glint in his eye, very subtle! Your exposure looks spot-on giving perfect detail in both whites and blacks! The background is great as it's light and airy, yet doesn't distract from the subject! Beautiful perch!
