Greetings folks, I'm going to be back in Ark. this Saturday and hope to have a few hours to disappear and shoot pictures. I would like to find some Azaleas in bloom. I know there are some at the Glory hole and we found a bunch about to pop at Indian creek, I'm just wondering if there are any that are closer to my In-laws house. So where are the closest Azaleas that you folks know of to the intersection of Hwy's 412 & 21 (7 miles north of Kingston)? The closer they are the better chance I'll have to get away.

Thanks everyone.

I don't know about any locations with azaleas, but if you found some at Indian Creek, that may be your best bet, since your in-laws are maybe 25 miles from there. I'm not aware of many natural areas that are much closer to you than the Buffalo River area. If anyone knows of any blooming azaleas in the Madison County Wildlife Management Area, that might be a hair closer. That's where Sweden Creek is located; so you may have seen whether there are azaleas there. Withrow Springs State Park is a little closer, too.

Bruce - I saw some pretty nice ones blooming on the OHT near Lick Branch last weekend, and many still in the bud stage. That location is quite a ways south of where you're at. Since Tim E reported not seeing any blooms around his place in his Journal Monday, which is nearer the same latitude as where you're at, I suspect you may need to head a little south. I'd suggest giving the King's River falls a try...that's where I'll be headed this weekend. Or as Randy suggested, Indian Creek might be a good bet too.

Thanks, I didn't know if there would be many possibilities out there but I did know that if I didn't ask there was no way I could find out. We'll see what I can work out.
