After an unproductive couple of hours at the local pond, I was walking home when I turned round to see this lovely fellow in the setting sun. I was even luckier, because there was a gale blowing and the top of the reeds were moving several feet both ways. He was obviously getting motion sickness and jumped down to a sheltered bit at camera height. Minimal processing on this one.
I really, really like this image! I love everything from the pose, feather detail, colours, the catch-light in his eye through to the background and composition! Beautiful capture!
Absolutely superb Ian. It just shows that no matter what effort is put in we always need just that little bit of luck. Everything works on this, the composition, the subject, the background and above all else..... the light. Lovely image.
